THEY CALL IT THE SQUARE of Miracles, and now I know why: because it is a miracle that you can cram so many people in to one small patch of grass, each one of them vying for position to take one of the obligatory “holding up the tower” photos. How ridiculously touristy, we would never do such a dumb thing.
Instead, we made the kids do it.
Nonethless, it was an absolutely perfect summer day to take in the one of those seen-it-in-a-book-a-million-times venues. Unfortunately the lines were a bit too long to wait to explore the inside, but wandering around the outside and shopping along the souvenir gallery was enough for us. After all, there was a beach waiting back in Bocca di Magra….
